Project Update: Major Funding Milestone for Mariner’s Village
We are thrilled to announce a significant investment in the future of Mariner’s Village within the Bayview Hunters Point community. This project represents a major step forward in local climate resilience and neighborhood beautification.
Current Milestones:
Major Grant Award: On January 18, 2024, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) awarded Greening Projects $1,150,000 for this critical initiative.
Project Scope: The funding is specifically dedicated to comprehensive landscaping and tree planting designed to manage stormwater runoff, reduce local flooding, and cool the neighborhood.
Timeline: We are currently in the final stages of contract execution. We expect to break ground and begin on-site work within the next 60 days.
This investment enables us to implement high-impact “green infrastructure” that serves dual purposes: environmental protection and neighborhood enhancement.

About Greening Projects: Mariner’s Village & Bayview
Greening Projects is dedicated to advancing environmental justice and sustainable infrastructure in the neighborhoods that need them most. Our work in Bayview Hunters Point focuses on the “neighborhood enclave” model: transforming residential pockets into resilient, lush spaces that protect the community from the elements.
Our approach at Mariner’s Village highlights our core pillars:
Stormwater Management: Utilizing specialized landscaping and strategic tree canopies to naturally absorb and filter rainwater, easing the burden on city systems and preventing runoff.
Urban Greening: Expanding the tree canopy to improve air quality and provide natural cooling in one of the city’s most vital industrial-adjacent corridors.
Fiscal Responsibility: We specialize in securing high-level municipal funding, such as the $1.15M PUC grant, to ensure that large-scale environmental improvements are delivered at no direct cost to the local residents.
Greening Projects handles the heavy lifting behind these transformations. From topographic surveying and preliminary landscape design to grant writing, site feasibility, and fiscal sponsorship, we provide the professional framework necessary to turn a “vacant lot” into a “community asset.”
At Mariner’s Village, Greening Projects is not just planting trees; we are engineering a more resilient and beautiful Bayview.
