DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Kimbell Community Garden Workday\nThe Friends of Kimbell Community Garden invite you to join us for a park cleanup day!  Please come wearing long pants and closed shoes. Work tools will be provided. All are welcome. Volunteers under 18 years old should come with a parent or guardian. \nInitial Volunteer Workday\nSaturday\, March 21\, 2026\n10 am – 12 pm\nProposed Kimbell Community Garden Site | Geary Blvd @Steiner St \nRoll up your sleeves and help us prepare the site for growth! Our first workday will focus on critical groundwork to get the space ready for a garden. We are looking for 40 volunteers to help us hit our goals! \nWhat we’ll be doing:\n\nClearing the fence line and preparing the site\nRemoving trash and debris\nWeeding and cleaning up underbrush\nOther supportive tasks at Kimbell Park\n\nRefreshments provided. We’ll have water and snacks to keep everyone energized. All neighbors are welcome – no gardening experience required! \nRSVP Here\n\nThe Friends of Kimbell Community Garden\nWe’re a passionate group of neighbors from Japantown\, NoPa / Anza Vista\, the Western Addition\, Alamo Square\, Lower Pac Heights\, and beyond\, united to transform an underused space at Kimbell Recreation Area into a vibrant urban garden. \nIn collaboration with SF Rec & Parks and a local landscape architect\, we are developing a proposal for a community garden at Geary Blvd (cross-street: Steiner St). The proposed space is ~5\,500 sq ft. Our vision includes 45+ raised beds and communal areas for growing\, gathering\, and connecting. \nPartnering with Greening Projects\, a registered 501(c)(3)\, we’ve launched our Growth Journey with an estimated project budget of $900\,000. We are currently focused on reaching our first milestone: the $100\,000 Seedling Phase to activate the space. \nDONATE

We are hosting our next community cleanup and would love to see you there. \nEvent Details\nDate: Sunday\, March 22nd\, 2026 \nTime: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM \nLocation: Ridge Lane \nRidge Lane is located in the southern part of San Francisco\, specifically in the Oceanview/Ingleside neighborhood (District 11). The greenway itself is a transformed pedestrian corridor that runs along a former rail right-of-way. \nPrimary Access Point: The address associated with the lane is 1 Ridge Lane\, San Francisco\, CA 94112.\nPathway Details: It stretches between Howth Street and Sargent Street\, offering a landscaped walkway that connects local residents to public transit and neighborhood amenities. \nWhy the Early Start?\nWe have shifted our schedule to a 9:00 AM start to ensure even our busiest neighbors can participate before their Sunday plans begin. It is the perfect way to kick off your morning with some fresh air and community spirit. \nRefreshments Provided\nNo need to worry about fuel. We will have plenty of snacks and drinks on hand to keep your energy up while we work. Come for the cleanup\, stay for the treats\, and leave satisfied with a job well done. \nWe look forward to seeing the D11 community come together to keep our neighborhood shining. Jump in and let’s get to work! \n\nWhat is Ridge Lane\nRidge Lane is a city-owned street that runs from Josiah/Howth Avenue to San Jose. Bordering the neighborhood once known as Columbia Heights\, the path has been neglected and needs transformation so neighbors can use the space and navigate safely. \nWhat is Ridge Lane Neighbors?\nRidge Lane Neighbors (RLN) was formed in 2013 by a group of Ingleside Residents who came together to transform Ridge Lane into the beautiful walkway our neighborhood deserves. We consider Ridge Lane a neighborhood treasure that some of us live on directly\, and use daily to get to work\, walk the dog\, or stroll to admire the views of the Bay and San Bruno Mountain. \nVoted as SF Park Alliance’s “2017 Volunteers of the year\,” RLN has mobilized action on the lane and has seen the successful transformation of Parcel 1 (from Josiah/Howth Avenues to Margaret/Louisberg Avenues) and Parcel 4 (connecting Caine Avenue to San Miguel Avenue). Work on Parcels 2 and 3 (connecting Margaret/Louisberg Avenues to Caine Avenue) is in progress\, and the group continues to work toward transforming the lane into a beautiful\, safe path that can be enjoyed by the neighborhood. \nRidge Lane Neighbors
