Come by\, get a little fresh air\, and help keep our community space beautiful! \nTransforming Ridge Lane: A Community-Led Oasis\nWhat was once an overlooked hillside pathway has been transformed into Ridge Lane: a vibrant\, thriving green space shaped entirely by local neighbors’ hands and vision. Through dedicated community workdays\, creative placemaking\, and urban sustainability efforts\, this neighborhood corridor has blossomed into an inviting public sanctuary. \nFrom introducing native\, climate-resilient plantings to installing welcoming seating\, thoughtful signage\, and artistic flourishes\, the beautification of Ridge Lane showcases the power of grassroots urban engineering. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Tompkins Stairway Garden on the 1st Saturday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to engage in rewarding activities such as weeding\, pruning\, and litter picking\, and help maintain this quaint green space in our beloved Bernal neighborhood! \nPlease Note: Due to the 4th of July Holiday\, we have moved the workday to coincide with the Once City Day Clean-up on July 11th. \nIf you often use these stairs to travel to or from the Alemany Farmers Market\, this is the perfect opportunity to help preserve their beauty. \nWe will provide work gloves and the necessary tools for the tasks at hand. Moreover\, experts from the U.C. Master Gardener program will impart knowledge on plant care. For safety\, we recommend wearing long-sleeved tops\, long pants\, and sturdy shoes. Don’t forget to bring water to keep yourself hydrated. \nLocation: At the junction of Tompkins Avenue and Nevada Street\, right at the top of the stairs. Join us and make a difference! \n\nOnce a trash-covered hillside\, San Francisco’s Tompkins Stairway Garden is a safe and welcoming street park featuring a drought-tolerant garden in year-round bloom and a colorful tiled stairway. On Saturday\, July 11th\, San Franciscans across all 11 districts will come together to volunteer\, connect\, and show up for the city we love.
